FAQs
Do I need therapy?
If you are experiencing persistent emotional distress or behavioral changes that negatively affect your daily life and functioning.
It’s not a sign of weakness to seek help, and you don’t need a formal diagnosis or to have hit “rock bottom” to benefit from therapy.
Consider seeking help if you notice the following signs:
- If you have or suspect to have mental disorders
- Feeling depressed, anxious and overwhelmed by a persistent sadness, helplessness and hopelessness
- Decline in functioning. Experience a drop in performance at work / school or ability to handle everyday responsibility
- You’re struggling with sleep; interest have dramatically changed or faded
- You lack energy, changes in appetite or weight
- Trauma, crisis or major life changes such as grief and loss, being fired from work, any trauma related events which you have difficulties in coping
- You and partners are experiencing distress in relationship
- If you need someone to talk to
- You thought of Self Harm
What should I expect in therapy?
The first session is usually a consultation and screening of your presenting issues. The therapist is trained to guide each session in effective ways to help you achieve your goals. A typical first session is an interview which consist of questions to understand your background history, current situation and goals for therapy. It is also common to go over the therapy approach and confidentiality policies to address any questions that you might have.
How often should I attend therapy?
The frequency of therapy sessions varies significantly from person to person or nature of treatment. For individual and couple’s therapy, the frequency of session will depend on various factors, including your needs, availability and the therapist recommendation. This may vary from weekly, biweekly, monthly or even upon your request upon discussion with your therapist.
How do I choose a therapist?
Our detailed profiles provide insights into therapist’s professional background and lifestyle factors to gauge compatibility beyond clinical expertise. Look for therapist whose experience and focus areas align directly with your specific needs, such as anxiety, trauma or relationship issues. A therapist specialized in your area of concern will likely be more effective.
What is Brief Consultation?
A Brief Consultation is a short, focused interaction designed to quickly address an immediate issue, provide guidance on the next step or determine if a longer course of therapy is needed.
What is a Psychological Assessment?
Psychological Assessment is a comprehensive clinical evaluation conducted by our Clinical Psychologist to gather detailed information that aim to diagnose, understand and offer recommendations for intervention support to the individual specific needs.
